River Raisin Chorus was founded in 1977, and three charter members still sing
with our group of 40 plus members. We meet in Monroe, but our members
come from 18 local communities, stretching from Toledo to Dearborn. Perhaps there is a member living close to you!
River Raisin is a part of Sweet Adelines International, with over
30,000 members world-wide. Closer to home, we are a part of Region 17,
with chapters in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana and Pennsylvania. There is a
competition each spring among the 20 plus choruses in our region, which
gives us all a way to chart our progress.
Our
members range in age from 20’s to 80’s, and our personal and musical
backgrounds are as wide-ranging as our ages. What bonds us together,
however, is our love of singing.
River
Raisin Chorus offers an opportunity to grow in many different ways. You
will learn vocal skills, but there is also the opportunity to grow and
share your talents in the areas of leadership, costuming, staging,
choreography, administration and publicity.
We offer a fun atmosphere for learning and for friendships. We promote
harmony not only musically, but also with the camaraderie that results
from our shared experiences.
It’s way more than singing!
